Thoughts on Code vs No-Code

Creating a no-code project is coding. Yes, you may be using a GUI to create a beautiful website by dragging and dropping containers and text boxes onto a screen. No, you don’t have to code the individual components. But you still have to connect them together do do the things you want them to do.No-code is all the rage these days because the tools allow you to launch an MVP (minimum viable product) in days, not weeks or months. This is a wonderful thing. But don't kid yourself. You are coding even if you are using no-code tools. In many ways, no-code is just the natural evolution of what coding has become. Few, if any, coders write everything from scratch. Every project I have ever been a part of uses libraries written by somebody else to perform functions that have already been solved repeatedly. Isn't no-code just that? Giving someone a GUI instead of asking them to write html and css is not much different than importing bootstrap for styling. Does it add another level of abstraction? Sure. But so what? The reality is that if you can launch your product with no-code faster, then you should. However, understand that no-code isn't free. You may not be spending money on a developer, but you WILL pay for those handy tools you are using. You are paying a premium for speed and convenience. And the premium won't come cheap.Paying Airtable , Softr or Bubble, Webflow or Wix. All of them have monthly costs that will add up. In the long run, you may find it more efficient to learn how to code yourself or partner with someone who already does. No-code is great for speed. It remains to be seen how good it is for scale.
